“I’m Fine – Horror You?” With that atrocious pun, let me welcome you to Undertaker’s Lounge. Since January 15th, 2001, this site has been the proud repository of my various essays, reviews and general ramblings about all things horror. Recently, I’ve branched off to a myspace page as well as a blogspot, Dinner With Max Jenke (please see to the left menu for links). These pages are where you’ll find the same semi-weekly updates that used to be located here. Currently, this main site is strictly an archive where all the back reviews, essays and editorials are kept – for posterity's sake, don’t you know? Anyhow…if this is your first visit here, take a look around, see what looks interesting to you. There’s enough to read that I hope it’ll take anyone a long while to exhaust whatever material that’s been collected here over the years. I know I had fun writing it and I hope it’ll prove entertaining and/or informative for other horror fans. I had initially mulled over the notion of using this intro to express some Big Thoughts as to why I feel drawn to horror. After all, like many fans, I've had occasion over the years to ask myself why this genre holds such an appeal to me. But I quickly thought better of that idea. After all, no one else feels burdened to explain whatever interest it is that preoccupies them. No one asks a sports fan, a stamp collector, a bird watcher, or even a gun enthusiast "Why?". But with horror there's always that onus of shame, the suggestion that Some Explanation Is Needed. Well, that isn't a just situation in my eyes. I like horror, love it even, and the fact that others might look upon it as a curious interest shouldn't be a cause for me to do much soul-searching over "why?". If I agonized over why I liked horror movies, I wouldn't have the time to watch them. So to anyone who asks if I'm all right, if I'm troubled, if I feel traumatized even by the hundreds, probably thousands, of hours of murder, monsters and mayhem that I've exposed myself to over the years, all I can say to them is: "I'm fine, horror you?"
